The André Lemaitre Museum
André Lemaître: a painter of tradition
André Lemaître (1909-1955) was born in Falaise. He painted some 4 000 canvases including many Normandy landscapes, ranging from Falaise to Honfleur. He was primarily inspired by nature and remains a painter of the great French tradition. The town of Falaise pays homage to the artist through its museum, featuring 90 works, each of which reflects an aspect of his life.
Although his work is characterized by a certain unity, it is distinguished by four separate periods you can discover for yourself in this beautiful Falaise museum.
